Jacob Tuioti-Mariner committed to UCLA on Tuesday despite having multiple offers.
Another day, another commitment for the Bruins. This time, Jacob Tuioti-Mariner decided he wanted to make Westwood his home in the future and the prospect in the Class of 2014 gave his pledge to UCLA on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2 and 248-pound defensive end from Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco has seen his stock recently rise. Not surprisingly, Tuioti-Mariner is the nation's No. 33 player on the strong-side in the 247Sports Rankings.
Signs point to the Bruins being in competition with Washington for him. The Huskies, in fact, put a scholarship on the table on Dec. 17. Still, it appears as if UCLA might have beat its counterpart to the punch with an offer on Dec. 7.
Bottom line: Coach Jim Mora & Co. put in enough work beforehand to secure a commitment from Luioti-Mariner when it counted. With his decision Tuesday, the remarkable roll on the recruiting trail continues for the Bruins.
