Luatua is the real deal. UCLA needs to land a commitment from him.
There's plenty of talent at TE. UCLA is sitting fine at the position right now. Sophomore Ian Taubler is a true TE who blocks like an O Lineman, but can also catch the ball. They just got the LA POY for TE in 2013. RS Frosh Nate Iese can easily move to TE if needed. He was a very good TE in HS and has excellent speed, balance and hands for such a big kid. He may be the best TE (Y) candidate on this team, athletically. Personally, I have a bias for receivers who are also excellent basketball players.
UCLA will land a good one; these elite kids are watching where Big Joe Fauria gets drafted.
UCLA also just landed tight end Thomas Duarte from Santa Ana (CA) Mater Dei.
That's the LA POY I was referring to. =)
Must have missed that. See it now.
I believe also that we are sitting good at TE... One of the key elements to the success of UCLA in the future is raising the competition level at all positions, TE included.
Mora preaches competition. Kids appear to appreciate the philosophy.
